Dolphins Complete the 4-Way Orange Crush

Just when the NFL seems to make sense, an unpredictable game changes all of that. When the Dolphins and Jets were set to battle on Monday night, few people thought that the Dolphins, without their starter Chad Pennington, would succeed against a seemingly good Jets team.

Then they played the game.

It was a hard fought battle between the AFC East rivals, but when all was said and done, the Dolphins prevailed.

Not only were the Dolphins successful running the ball on the Jets, as Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams combined for 142 yards and 2 touchdowns, but their young quarterback, Chad Henne, thrived as a passer. The quarterback out of Michigan, who is now 2-0 as a starter for the Fins, carved up a great Jets secondary, as he was 20-26 for 241 yards and 2 TDs. This, against a defense that shut down the likes of Tom Brady and Drew Brees!

The win pulls the Dolphins within a game of first place in the AFC East, and they are beginning to look like the team that made the playoffs last season.

Following next week’s bye, the Dolphins have some tough games coming up against the Saints, Jets, and Patriots. This should really test this team’s resolve, and they should have a better idea of who they are as a team when those 3 games are complete.

I strongly doubt that Henne will be able to keep up the type of play that he displayed on Monday night, but it is encouraging to know that he is capable of such a performance against a quality defense.

All that I know for sure is that the NFL season is far from over, and many things will continue to change as the season unfolds. Teams that look great right now, may be headed for the tubes, and teams that are playing subpar, may turn it on.

As of right now, the Dolphins are the 4th of 4 orange teams to win in week 5. Happy early Halloweeen everybody!!!
